This view shows the entire pyramid as composed of a core of mud bricks. Once these were exposed by removing the limestone facing, the unfired bricks began to disintergrate, and vast amounts of eroded materials have accumulated around the base.
Near the south side of the pyramid, at upper left, are several mastaba tombs of the royal family.
