Concinella concina (bivalve)

Concinella concina (after Khimchenko et al 2012, fig.1.)

Concinella concinna are non-marine or riverine bivalves or pelecypods dating from the Late Permian at about 260-255 mya. They were discovered in 1966 in the Pechora River near the village of Ust-Soplyas (A,B) and in the Kuznetsk basin (C), in the Timan-Pechora Province of Western Russia. They belong to the class Bivalvia, the subclass Autobranchia , the  infra-class Pteriomorphia, and  the superfamily Prokopievskioidea.

The thickness of the shells averages 0.12 mm, with outstanding preservation in some cases.  Comparison of microstructures of aragonite and areas re-crystallized from different Concinella shells have enabled determination of the degree of local preservation of primary structures.
