Paleomutela is a clam-like bivalve genus from Upper Tatarian, Late Permian (258-252 mya) deposits from the Russian (East European) Platform. First described by Amalitzky in 1892, it belongs to the class Bivalvia, the order Ctenodontia, and the family Paleomutelidae. Three species are represented, Paleomutela wohrmani, P. amalitzky, and P. attenuata.
