Late Permian sites on the Dvina River

Late Permian sites on the Dvina River (Golubev 2000,fig.6; Athena Review).

This map shows the locations of a dozen Late Permian sites along the Northern Dvina and Sukhona Rivers in western Russia, dating from 259-252 mya.

The first site examined was Sokokli, excavated by Vladirmir and Anna Amilitsky in 1899-1914. The Sokolki Faunal Assemblage contains two subassemblages, the Sokokli, found at seven sites, and the Ilinskoe at four sites. A third faunal assemblage, the Vayazniki, is represented at the site of Rasha on the Dvina.
