Dahshur: Two Pyramids of the 4th Dynasty
    .

Pyramids at Dahshur (photo: Francis Frith 1858).

These two pyramids at Dahshur, shown clearly in an early photo by Frith, date to the age of Snofru, the first king of the 4th Dynasty. At right is the Bent Pyramid, which retains some of its original limestone facing. The name derives from the fact that the pyramid angle was altered during construction. with the upper portion having a less steep gradient. At left, further distant, is the Red Pyramid.
