Dendera: Relief sculpture on rear of Temple of Hathor (1849 photo)     .

Relief sculpture on rear facade of Temple of Hathor at Dendera (photo: du Camp, 1852, pl.20).

This extensive relief with inscriptions on the rear facade of the Temple of Hathor, taken by du Camp in 1849, is identified (p.57) only as  "sculptures on the rear facade".

The low-relief sculptures covering the surface comprises the upper section of reliefs on the outer back wall of the temple. These show a series of seated gods, intersperced by standing figures of rulers making offerings. At far right, attached to the wall, is one of two sculptures of  lions' heads which served as drains.
