Medinet Habu, Temple of Ramesses III, inner court (1849 photo)    .

Inner courtyard of the Temple of Ramesses III with remains of church (Du Camp, 1852, pl.50).

This image by du Camp shows the interior courtyard of the temple of Ramesses III, and a row of columns which were reused by an early Coptic church, with three still standing.

The caption reads: "Medinet Habou, peristyle" [inner courtyard] "of the palace of Ramses Meiamoun. Ruins of a Christian church, of which some columns remained standing. The apse (exceptionally oriented to the north) was placed against the walls. An English tourist, by destroying it, discovered sculptures that represent the coronation of Ramses Meiamoun."
