This scene, painted by David
Roberts in 1837-8, shows the remains
of the Coptic church in the inner or second couryard of the Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III at
Medinet Habu. This early Christian church was destroyed at some unknown
time in the past, possibly not long before the image was painted.
