Medinet Habu, view of Coptic village and Temple of Ramesses III (Roberts 1838-40).

Medinet Habu, located across the Nile from Thebes and the Palace at Karnak, held the mortuary temple site of Ramesses III. This painting by David Roberts shows the temple (light yellow) at center, surrounded by ruins of a Coptic village called Papa (reddish brown).
