Philae: Trajan's Kiosk (1858 photo)    .

Trajan's Kiosk at Philae viewed from the east (photo: Frith et al. 1862).

This albumin print by Francis Frith, taken in 1858, shows the building called Trajans's Kiosk and the eastern edge of Philae Island, taken from just offshore. Moored at the water's edge is an Egyptian dahabieh, or sailboat, used to transport people and goods along the Nile river.
