One of the younger members of the French Expedition at age 26, Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire was already director of the Paris Zoological Gardens. As part of the zoology team, Saint-Hilaire was responsible for describing and drawing most of the vertebrates (except birds) studied in Egypt, including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
