The amphitheater
located at the north end of the archaeological park of Nice-Cimiez was completed
during the Severan period (AD 193-217), replacing an earlier version made
of wood. The vaulted masonry structure seen today had separate seating sections
for legionary officers and enlisted men, reached by different entrances.
