This
map shows the location of major
Buddhist monasteries in
Tibet. Many are located around
Lhasa between the Salween
and Brahmaputra Rivers, while others are in the eastern part of Tibet bordering
China, near the upper portions of the Huang Ho and Yangtze Rivers. Most of
the largest rivers in Asia originate in the snowclad, mountainous regions
of Tibet (others include the Irawaddy and the Mekong).
